GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – When you owe the IRS back taxes, the stress and tensions mount along with the interest and penalties. For many taxpayers, an Installment Agreement can help them get back on track with the IRS.

When Cynthia Reha of Milford, Delaware withdrew money from her 401K retirement plan, she was not aware she had incurred a tax liability due to the early withdrawal of her retirement funds. When she received the IRS notice in the mail, she tried to fix the problem on her own, but was not successful.

Reha’s Case Specialist worked hard to get an Installment Agreement set up for her client, something Ms. Reha had attempted to do herself. An Installment Agreement is an official payment plan set up with the IRS, which allows the taxpayer to repay tax debt in smaller, more manageable amounts.

Ms. Reha could not get the IRS to agree to a payment she could afford. JK Harris determined the IRS was disallowing Ms. Reha’s car allowance and had not acknowledged she could not take out any home equity loans against her home to pay off her tax debt.

When all documentation was provided to the IRS showing Ms. Reha needed a smaller, more affordable Installment Agreement, the IRS finally agreed with JK Harris’ findings.

“Honestly, I did not think that JK Harris and Company could rescue me, but they did,” said Reha. “Now I still reside in my home and they got me put on minimal installment agreement payments. Thank you to my Case Specialists and to JK Harris and Company for helping me out.”
