On January 26, 2012, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of South Carolina approved the sale of the customer records of J.K. Harris & Company, LLC; JK Harris Small Business Services, LLC; and JKH Holding Co., LC (collectively “JK Harris”) to Resolute Tax Services, LLC (“Resolute”). J.K. Harris had a written privacy policy that provided it would not disclose the information in your file to any third parties without your written consent. The Court has appointed L. Stan Neely to act as a Privacy Manager to ensure that Resolute does not have access to your personal information unless you provide written consent for Resolute to have access to the information in your JK Harris client file.
The Privacy Manager, or someone on his behalf, will contact you by letter, e-mail or telephone to determine if you consent to Resolute having access to your client file and any other information that you have provided to JK Harris. At that time, you may choose one of the following options:
o Request that Resolute tax professionals review your file at no charge and recommend what your tax options are;
o Request that your file be returned to you electronically, in which case you must provide the Privacy Manager with a valid e-mail address at which you can receive your file; or
o Request that your information be destroyed in accordance with guidance set by the Court.
If you decide to enter into a contract with Resolute, you may receive a credit of up to 50% of the amount of fees that were previously paid to JK Harris. If you consent to Resolute having access to your JK Harris client file and any information that you have provided JK Harris, please print the authorization form on the link below, sign it, and mail or fax it to the number or address on the form.
YOU SHOULD CONSIDER THIS OFFER VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE DECIDING TO SIGN UP FOR RESOLUTE’S TAX SERVICES. By approving this sale, the Court has in no way indicated that you should enter into a contract with Resolute. You are not obligated to engage Resolute for any tax services by returning the form. If you do not wish to have your information transferred to Resolute, please sign and submit the form promptly to the address on the form and indicate you do not wish to participate in the transfer of your records to Resolute.
If you have any questions, you may contact the Privacy Manager appointed by the Court to protect your privacy. You may reach him by mail at P.O. Box 1609, Goose Creek, SC 29445 or by fax at 877-492-0478.
Your tax situation is a time-sensitive matter and you should act quickly to protect your taxpayer rights. Responses to the IRS, for example, usually require a response or some action within 30 days. JK Harris has been closed since the end of December and many files will have upcoming deadlines. It is imperative that all clients make a decision about future representation in their cases promptly.
Did you know the number of liens filed in 2008 was 47% higher than in 2005?
J. M. of Madera CA August, 2007My Case Specialist was very professional and responsive. Initially, the IRS was chasing me for over $300,000. It was negotiated to a little over $11,000.
