JK Harris’ Hukki Attends Advanced Taxpayer Representation Forum
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – Peter Hukki, an Enrolled Agent for JK Harris & Company, LLC, attended the Seventh Annual Conference on Advanced Taxpayer Representation and IRS Procedure conducted by the American Academy of Tax Practice. The event was held in Las Vegas, Nev., from Sept 7-9.
Hukki joined federally authorized tax practitioners including Enrolled Agents, Attorneys and CPAs from many parts of the country for a comprehensive conference on the advanced aspects of representing clients before the IRS. EAs, Attorneys and CPAs are federally authorized tax practitioners. They are regulated by the IRS and are permitted to represent taxpayers at all levels of the IRS in addition to preparing tax returns, which meet exacting standards.
“The conference was an intense learning experience,” Hukki said. “A number of issues were covered in the course that are important to those of us representing taxpayers before the IRS.”
Hukki has been an EA since 1974. He is a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents, having served as a Director and Treasurer on the National Board. He is currently a member of the South Carolina Society of Enrolled Agents and is a member of the National Association of Tax Practitioners. Hukki’s area of concentration at JK Harris, the nation’s largest tax resolution firm, is audit representation and the preparation of complex tax returns.
Some of the topics discussed during the conference concerned procedures involving taxpayer interviews, enforcement priorities, the IRS 2005-09 Strategic Plan, examination of income, audit reconsideration, the new Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act and penalty administration.
