Maine couple takes right turn to JK Harris and Company
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – David and Gloria Baker found themselves owing the IRS and not knowing what direction to turn. Then, they saw a television commercial for JK Harris and Company, LLC, and their lives took a turn for the better.
JK Harris, the nation’s largest tax resolution company, was able to reduce the Baker’s IRS debt from nearly $42,000 to just over $5,000, thanks to the IRS Offer in Compromise program.
“We were very pleased with the way JK Harris helped us with our problem,” the couple from LaGrange, ME, said. “We really don’t know what we would have done without them. We didn’t know where to turn.”
An Offer in Compromise is an agreement between the IRS and the taxpayer that allows the taxpayer’s delinquent tax debt to be compromised for less than the amount owed. The offered dollar amount is based on the taxpayers net worth plus their future income potential, in other words, what the client is actually able to pay.
The Bakers owed the IRS for just one year, in part because of a lump sum payment from a pension account. Neither was employed, and both were living on monthly Social Security. The IRS took into account the little money the Bakers had on hand and some equity in their vehicle and was able to accept the Offer.
“They were very nice people,” said the Bakers’ Case Specialist at JK Harris. “I am glad we were able to help them.”
“They took care of our tax problem and told us not to worry because we were in good hands,” the Bakers said. “They took care of everything. We have so much trust in them…They were a Godsend. I thank them everyday for what they did.”
